Porto

Information about the conference venue, the city of Porto, different options for accommodation, and flights.

The symposium will take place in Porto, Portugal. Porto is located in northern Portugal and it is the second largest city of the country, with a population of approximately 240 000 people. The city was classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996, which already tells something about its unique landscape and nature.

There are many different kinds of attractions to visit and appreciate in Porto, such as monuments, museums, churches, bridges, cellars, markets, fairs, annual festivals and green spaces.

Porto combines historical buildings and monuments in its landscape with modern conveniences. It is easy to get to the city by plane, train, bus or boat. For accommodation Porto has a number of inexpensive hostels. See the slideshow on Flickr for photos of the city.

Conference Venue

The lectures, poster sessions and workshops will be held in the lecture halls and rooms of the University of Porto's two faculties:

  • Faculdade de Engenharia (FEUP, days 1 and 3).
FEUP The faculties are located a few kilometers apart, and reside in the centre of the city. See them on a map.

A 3-day ticket for local transportation is included in the price of admission, so moving between the destinations is not a problem.
